Rat Primary Bone Marrow-derived Mesenchymal Stem Cells

Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) are multipotent stem cells with a high capacity for self-renewal. They can develop into specialized cells of the body such as chondrocytes/osteoblasts/adipocytes. MSCs can also differentiate into nerve cells; heart muscle cells; liver cells and endothelial cells. Their easy accessibility as well as exceptional genomic stability and their capacity for tissue repair with few immunological and ethical issues make them the favorable cell type for experimental and clinical use. These bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells were isolated from a young adult male Fischer rat leg bone. The cells are passaged for purity then cryopreserved and delivered frozen. Each vial contains 1 x 106 cells in 1 mL volume. Cells are characterized by flow cytometry for CD90/CD105/CD29/CD45/CD34 and are negative for mycoplasma/yeast/fungi/bacteria. Cells are assured to further culture using the protocol provided.
