These HeLa cells feature a stable knockout of the VCP cofactor UBA and UBX domain-containing UBXN1/SAKS1. UBXN1 colocalizes with ubiquitin and is involved in ubiquitin-proteasome functions. The cofactor plays an imporant role in mitochondrial fragmentation, ATP production, and ER-mitochondrial apposition. Knockout was confirmed via Western blot. The cell line is a suitable model for research regarding mitophagy. This cell line is available as two clones (Cat. T3301 and T3310).
