NEC1452 originates from an ampullary neuroendocrine carcinoma, developed to enhance the understanding and treatment of aggressive neuroendocrine cancers. This cell line was meticulously created from patient tumor samples, followed by successful propagation in immunocompromised mice, leading to consistent PDX models. Unlike NEC913, NEC1452 does not express somatostatin receptor 2 (SSTR2) but shares similar high-grade characteristics with a Ki-67 index of 80-90%. The cell line maintains key neuroendocrine markers such as chromogranin A and synaptophysin, and exhibits critical genetic alterations in TP53 and RB1, mirroring the molecular profile of advanced neuroendocrine carcinomas. NEC1452 cells thrive in culture, both in suspension and as three-dimensional spheroids, providing a versatile platform for in vitro and in vivo studies.
