The HEK293T cell line with CD4 and CCR5 expression is a specialized line developed for HIV-1 research. These cells have been transduced with retroviral vectors to stably express the human CD4 receptor and the CCR5 co-receptor, which are crucial for HIV-1 entry. The cell line has undergone selection with puromycin, ensuring the maintenance of receptor expression. High-expressing cells were further isolated via flow cytometry, providing a valuable tool for studying HIV-1 pathogenesis and screening antiviral drugs.
