HMAM5 cells were developed from luminal B subtype mammary tumors in Syrian hamsters. This cell line was positively stained for HER-2/neu and pancytokeratin. The cells proliferate <em>in vitro</em>, colonies forming in soft agar, and have 74 chromosomes (aneuploid). This cell model may be useful in research and development of therapeutics for immunocompetent human breast cancer.
