Dermal fibroblasts are a dynamic and diverse population of cells whose functions in skin, in many respects, remain unknown. Fibroblasts engage in fibroblast-epidermal interactions during hair development and in interfollicular regions of skin and also play an important role in cutaneous wound repair and an ever-increasing role in bioengineering of skin. Skin equivalents can be constructed from immortalized keratinocytes and fibroblasts. In addition, it is ideal to establish feeder layers for various stem cell cultures and it can also be used as a model to study wound healing, toxicology or basic cell biology. Real Time PCR was used to quantify HPV E6 and E7 gene expression in immortalized cell line.
