Immortalized Mouse Intestinal Crypt Stem Cells (iMICs) are immortalized through infection with non-replicating retrovirus carrying the loxP-flanked SV40 large T antigen. This conditionally immortalized cell line retain the biological characteristics of intestinal epithelial stem cells and could form intestinal organoids in 3-D cultures. This cell line may be useful for understanding the genetic/epigenetic underpinnings of intestinal tumorigenesis, and/or mouse intestinal crypt biology. In vitro, the cells can be genetically manipulated for further research.
