This cell line is derived from tissue obtained from Proteus syndrome patients. These cells contain only the E17K AKT1 mutation, making them suitable for studying the effects of a single deviation on cell growth and metabolism. Furthermore, this cell line is suitable for proteus syndrome drug therapy development. AKT1 expression was detected through PCR based RFLP assay genotyping. When grown in serum-free medium, cells have increased pAKT levels compared to wild-type cells.
