PriCoat™ T25 Flasks (G299) or Applied Cell Extracellular Matrix (G422) are recommended for optimal cell culture. Dulbecco's Modified Eagle Medium (DMEM) ,High Glucose (TM500) + 10% FBS + 1 mM Sodium Pyruvate (TM057) + 1% Penicillin/Streptomycin Solution (G255) ,37.0°C ,5% CO₂. 300 µg/ml Geneticin/G418 (G271) for selection. Note: Selection drugs should be added to the culture medium after the first passage to ensure cells have recovered from freeze-thaw conditions. |

TrkA Stable T17 Cell Line expresses rat TrkA (Tropomyosin receptor kinase A) after TrkA plasmid was successfully transfected into SN56 cells and were selected in the presence of G418. TrkA is the receptor for neurotrophins, such as nerve growth factor (NGF), which plays essential role in the nervous system – in particular apoptotic cell death prevention, and/or the promotion of cellular differentiation and axon elongation in neurons. Researchers may use the TrkA Stable T17 Cell Line to screen for NGF-like compounds that would act as TrkA agonists to study the mechanisms of the signaling pathways and affects NGF. The lack of TrkA has been associated with the neurodegenerative processes and thus the cell line is a valuable tool to conduct related studies. abm has available the TrkB Stable T48 Cell Line (T3159), which can be used to screen BDNF-like (brain-derived neurotrophic factor –like) compounds as well.
