PriCoat™ T25 Flasks (G299) or Applied Cell Extracellular Matrix (G422) are recommended for optimal cell culture. PriGrow II (TM002) + 10% heat-inactivated FBS + 6mM L-glutamine (G275) + 1% Penicillin/Streptomycin Solution (G255) ,37.0°C ,5% CO₂. Note: cells grow slowly in the first 7-10 days post-thaw. Split cells every 5 days or when medium pH changes. Aberrant cells reinforce growth of normal cells. Some cells may become adherent or form clumps. |

This cell line is derived from a herpesvirus ateles-induced tumor from inbred B/J rabbits. RL-5 cells are susceptible to HIV infection (in vitro) and retrovirus activity is observed 7-10 days post-infection. Cells shed infectious virus and express RNA transcript that cross-hybrisdize with a human CD4-specific probe.
