Periodontal ligament (PDL) cells isolated from the middle third of the root from the maxillary first premolar were immoralized by transduction with recombinant lentivirus carrying the hTERT gene. These PDL-hTERT cells express alkaline phosphatase, type I collagen, runt-related transcription factor 2 (Runx2), bone sialoprotein (BSP), and osteocalcin (OC). This cell line is suitable model for priodontal investigatiions regarding periodontitis pathology, periodontal regeneration and treatment therapies.
