Immortalized Rat Skeletal Myoblast Cells (L6) is derived from the thigh muscle of a two day old rat pup. Myoblasts are the precursor cells to muscle fibres and aggregate to form multinucleate striated fibres within a living organism. The cells display a myoblast morphology and retain the potential to differentiate. This cell line has been created to have an increased insulin response to glucose uptake, as well as have good myotuble differentiation. Immortalized Rat Skeletal Myoblast Cells (L6) have been used to study glucose transport systems and is suitable for research pertaining to muscle physiology and metabolism.
