The cardiac sarcolemmal ATP-sensitive potassium channel (KATP) consists of a Kir6.2 pore and a SUR2 regulatory subunit; SUR2 short forms are associated with Kir6.1 or Kir6.2. The mouse Kir6.2 gene was cloned from a mouse heart cDNA library by PCR.
