PD-L1 and PD-1 form a well-known immune-inhibiting complex that helps prevent the over-activation of the immune system. Studies have shown upregulation of PD-L1 in tumour cells as a countermeasure to suppress immune attacks. However, the extensive molecular mechanism of such interaction has not been thoroughly investigated.
