PriCoat™ T25 Flasks (G299) or Applied Cell Extracellular Matrix (G422) are recommended for optimal cell culture. Dulbecco's Modified Eagle Medium (DMEM) ,High Glucose (TM500) + 10% FBS + 1% Penicillin/Streptomycin Solution (G255) ,37.0°C ,5% CO₂. 300 µg/ml Geneticin/G418 (G271) for selection. Note: Selection drugs should be added to the culture medium after the first passage to ensure cells have recovered from freeze-thaw conditions. |

Omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (ω3-PUFAs) are known to inhibit carcinogenesis, tumour growth and metastasis, whereas omega-6 polyunsaturated fatty acids (ω6-PUFAs) stimulate their effects. The FAT1 gene of C. elegans encodes a ω3-desaturase that catalyses the conversion of ω6-PUFAs to ω3-PUFAs, increasing the amount of ω3-PUFAs. Fat-1 Stable FaDu Cell Line expresses the full-length FAT1 gene from C. elegans through stable transfection. These cells are applicable for studies investigating the effects of endogenous ω3-polyunsaturated fatty acids.
