WCRC-25 express high levels of the epithelial marker EpCAM and are negative for αSMA, confirming the epithelial nature of the cell line. The cells are strongly positive for luminal markers CK8/18, and negative for the basal marker CK5. In evidence of invasive lobular breast cancer, absence of full-length E-cadherin protein was also confirmed by Western blot in WCRC-25 and Sequencing revealed a CDH1 Q706* truncating mutation. ERα expression was lacking in WCRC-25, as shown by immunoblotting.
